DIY Scrunchie

The scrunchie is the very first thing I made with Herbie, and it is so easy to do! There are only four steps, and only takes a few minutes so you could have a whole army of scrunchies by lunchtime!

YOU WILL NEED:

-18" by 3" fabric of your choice.
-9" elastic.
-Pins.
-Safety Pin.

STEP ONE:

Start off by folding your 18" by 3" in half length ways and pinning in place. Also add a safety pin to your elastic for later.

If you are a beginner,  it might help to add some dots to help you sew in a straight line.

STEP TWO:

Now sew your tube shut leaving about a 5mm seam allowance. Remember to take the pins out as you get to them, not sew over them!

STEP THREE:

Now is the hardest part (which is pretty easy) you need to turn your tube the right way out, it can be a little fiddly at first, but you will soon figure it out, I use a chop stick to help me pull the fabric through. Then it's time to add your elastic. Use the safety pin to help you pull the elastic through your fabric, and then sew the ends of the elastic together as seen below.

STEP FOUR:

The final step is to sew the fabric ends together. You might want to fold one end in a bit, and tuck the other end in, then sew along. Be sure to sew backwards as well to make sure it's really secure. That's it!
